2008 · Browser strategy game
A territory game about movement, growth and encirclement, wrapped in a deliberately mythic history.
The idea
Kami asked players to paint the map in their colour. Dragging a unit drew the path it would follow; every move claimed territory and reshaped the contest.
Territory was both score and life support. Control more space and a unit grew until it produced another unit. Enemy stones could be defeated by cutting them off from their territory or surrounding them completely.
What shaped it
Click and drag to give a unit a path through the contested map.
Moving units leave the world painted in the player’s colour.
Territory feeds units until they are large enough to create a new piece.
Break an opponent’s connection to its land or encircle it outright.
